Summary
Funds projects that increase physical accessibility in existing licensed early learning and child care programs, covering up to 100 per cent of project costs to a maximum of $100,000, subject to budget availability. Eligible costs include renovation to meet physical accessibility standards, accessible outdoor landscaping, surfacing and paths, accessible playground infrastructure, barrier-free entrances, stairwells and bathrooms, and design, site survey and project management costs; land purchase, operating and maintenance costs and most movable equipment are not funded. Approved projects must be completed within one year. For the 2026-27 fiscal year applications are accepted on an ongoing basis by email, decisions come within 30 days of a complete application, and applicants are encouraged to discuss their project with the Early Learning and Child Care Branch (earlylearning@yukon.ca) first. Broader scope: the same stream also funds up to $10,000 in start-up costs for new rural family day homes, and a separate major-project stream funds new child care spaces; neither is covered here. Funded through the Canada-Yukon Canada-Wide Early Learning and Child Care Agreement.
Eligibility
Yukon First Nations governments, Yukon societies in good standing registered under the Societies Act (including Indigenous organizations) and Yukon-based not-for-profit corporations incorporated under the Canada Not-for-profit Corporations Act that currently operate a licensed early learning and child care program. Applicants must show how they will meet the Child Care Act requirements, and third parties may not apply on an applicant's behalf.
