Summary
Increases sport participation by funding programs that expand sport opportunities for athletes, coaches, officials and volunteer leaders from under-represented groups, including persons with a disability. This is a broader program: accessibility is one of several purposes, alongside girls and women, Indigenous peoples, children and youth from economically disadvantaged families, and new Canadians, and inclusiveness or adaptive programming is an assessment criterion. Grants go up to $40,000 for programs completed within 12 months; eligible costs include program delivery staff, training, facility rental and essential equipment, while capital projects, facility upgrades, and computer, software and website development are ineligible. Matching funds are not required, but applicants must show self-generated revenue or other financial support.
Eligibility
Alberta non-profit organizations registered and in good standing for more than two years, and First Nations or Métis Settlements, whose mandate is directly related to sport or active recreation. Municipalities, schools, post-secondary institutions, public agencies, for-profits, individuals and organizations outside Alberta are ineligible.
