Summary
Provides rebates to BC taxi companies for acquiring or converting wheelchair-accessible vehicles. Conversion rebate covers up to 50% of eligible costs to a maximum of $9,000; acquisition rebate covers up to 20% of fair market value purchase price to a maximum of $11,000; combined acquisition and conversion total not to exceed $20,000. A vehicle previously converted to a WAV, or a purpose-built WAV, may receive 20% of eligible purchase costs to a maximum of $20,000. Apply within 12 months of the eligible purchase or conversion; for a vehicle bought and then converted, the conversion must be finished within 12 months of purchase and the application made within 12 months of the conversion. Open on an ongoing basis as long as program funding remains. Continuous intake while funds remain available.
Eligibility
Companies registered to do business in BC that hold a valid Passenger Transportation Licence with Special Authorization Passenger Directed Vehicle and operate wheelchair-accessible taxis. Individuals (PT License holders) can only access the separate Maintenance and Operation Rebate.
