Summary

Funds research-driven innovation projects that test new solutions to universal accessibility challenges facing the City of Montreal, in support of its Municipal Universal Accessibility Plan 2024-2030. Projects run up to 24 months and must be led by a research entity working with a community organization and a municipal service or borough, with at least one team member who has lived experience of disability. Eligible themes: procurement, architecture and urban planning, communication, organizational culture and accessibility capacity building, democracy and citizen participation, human resources, and municipal services. Applications go by email to InnovationAU@montreal.ca. Launched May 12, 2026 as a 2026-2028 call for projects.

Eligibility

Project teams that combine three sectors: a research body (the lead applicant of record), a community or nonprofit organization, and a City of Montreal service or borough. The team must include at least one person with experiential knowledge of disability (a functional limitation or a difference in ability) who participates actively. Projects must address an accessibility challenge tied to City of Montreal activities.
