Summary
Supports accessible and inclusive community transportation services in communities and regions across Newfoundland and Labrador, helping residents get to work, school and medical appointments, run errands and take part in social activities. Planning projects can receive up to $10,000 to plan or design a new or expanded service, and capital projects up to $100,000 to buy the capital assets needed to operate one. Broader scope: this is a general community transportation program rather than a disability-specific fund; the application asks how the project will reduce transportation barriers for seniors, persons with disabilities, low-income residents, rural or remote residents and other equity-deserving groups. Capital applicants must include a business plan with a three-year financial forecast and quotes or cost estimates for proposed purchases. Applications go by email to aging-and-seniors@gov.nl.ca with the program name in the subject line; questions go to the Seniors and Aging Division at 1-888-494-2266.
Eligibility
Municipal governments, Indigenous Governing Bodies and provincially incorporated not-for-profit organizations in Newfoundland and Labrador; not-for-profits must be in good standing with the Government of Newfoundland and Labrador. Individuals and federal entities are not eligible. For-profit organizations are not normally eligible to apply directly and must contact the Department before applying. Applicants are encouraged to work with nearby communities and consider regional approaches.
