Summary
One-time funding of up to $25,000 for BC local and regional governments and eligible public libraries to remove barriers for persons with disabilities by implementing initiatives from their accessibility plans, committees, or feedback mechanisms. Eligible categories: built environment, education and awareness, policy and programs, modelling inclusive practices, communication and engagement, use of technology. Funded from a $5 million provincial envelope now extended to public libraries; the program runs on a rolling basis to March 31, 2029. Supports Accessible BC Act compliance. Eligibility
Local and regional governments and eligible public libraries in British Columbia that comply with the Accessible BC Regulation (accessibility plan, accessibility committee, and feedback mechanism) under Part 3 of the Accessible BC Act. Library federations may apply on behalf of eligible member public libraries; post-secondary libraries are not eligible; a local government that has already received this funding cannot reapply. Each eligible applicant may submit one application, and a local government and a library may apply jointly and each receive $25,000.
