Summary
Broader scope: funds façade renewal and accessibility improvements in Downtown Oshawa. Base support is 50% to $10,000 per municipal street address, storefront or commercial unit, whichever is less, and $30,000 per property. Accessibility work, such as a power door opener at an otherwise accessible entrance, can receive 100% to $3,000 within those overall caps. Competitive deadlines are March 1 and September 1, subject to funding; second-round funds depend on first-round approvals. Work generally finishes within one year. Consultation is encouraged; no application fee.
Eligibility
Property owners, business owners, tenants and agents acting for owners, with the property owner's approval, for non-residential and mixed-use buildings in the Downtown Oshawa Urban Growth Centre Community Improvement Project Area; residential buildings are limited to apartments and block townhouses. Improvements must be visible from a public area, and the application must be submitted before construction starts, with two contractor estimates, one from a Durham-based contractor.
