Summary
The grant stream of the Enabling Accessibility Fund, funding small-scale construction, renovation, retrofit and communication technology projects that make communities and workplaces more accessible for people with disabilities. Typical projects include ramps, accessible doors and washrooms, screen reader devices and hearing loop systems, and accessible playgrounds. EAF applies flat rate costing to 11 listed project activities through its published calculator, with one contractor quote required for other activities. A leveraging contribution of 25 per cent is required, with exemptions for organizations in the territories, Indigenous organizations, rural and remote organizations, shelters, food banks and clothing charities. The most recent call ran May 28 to July 26, 2024 and is closed; no new call has been announced. Social media posts claiming an open EAF intake have repeatedly recycled the parameters of that 2024 call.
Eligibility
Not-for-profit organizations; for-profit organizations with up to 99 full-time equivalent employees; municipal governments; territorial governments; Indigenous organizations; organizations that provide transitional, temporary or emergency housing; Early Learning and Child Care centres; and Indigenous Early Learning and Child Care centres. Federal and provincial governments, public schools, public health care facilities, home-based child care, crown corporations, and residential housing organizations such as condo and co-op boards are not eligible.
