Summary
Community engagement projects creating lasting accessibility change for people in BC living with disability. Funds projects in accessible employment, emergency planning and response, arts/culture/tourism, sports and recreation, education and learning, and community participation. Large capital costs such as building or outdoor-space accessibility improvements are not eligible. DABC is a provincial, cross-disability non-profit organization. Program has run since 2018. Funding renewed for the 2026/2027 cycle, announced June 1, 2026. Applications open August 5, 2026 and close September 11, 2026 at 12 pm Pacific time, for year-long projects taking place in 2027.
Eligibility
BC-based not-for-profit organizations, or national/international organizations with a base of operations in BC and capacity to deliver services in BC. Must operate primarily for community benefit, have services open to the public, and have a democratically elected volunteer Board; registered charity status is not required. Governmental bodies, including municipalities, First Nations bands, and public-sector organizations, are not eligible. Successful applicants can reapply 5 years after their application was submitted. Organizations with a real or perceived conflict of interest with DABC must declare it on the application.
