Summary
Supports aesthetic and accessibility improvements to commercial building façades that might otherwise be unaffordable. Accessibility additions and alterations are eligible, and more accessible storefront entrances receive preference. This broader property-improvement program has a combined CIP limit of $10,000 per property or project over four years. Approval is required before costs are incurred; approved work must be completed within 18 months. Payment is made to the applicant after completion, paid invoices and compliance checks. The 2026 intake is closed. The application package says each funding period starts January 1 and remains open until funds run out, subject to Council allocating an annual budget; it does not confirm funded 2027 intake availability.
Eligibility
Property owners, their agents, and tenants with the owner's written authorization, for commercial, mixed-use or industrial buildings anywhere in the Township of North Huron, Ontario, on properties zoned Core Commercial, Highway Commercial, Fringe Core Area Commercial, Community Facility, or a special residential zone that permits commercial uses. Agricultural properties open to the visiting public with value-added activity, such as a farm retail outlet, may also be eligible. Applicants must hold a pre-application meeting with the Township's Economic Development Officer, and Council makes the final decision. Property owners must be in good standing without tax arrears or other outstanding obligations. Required permits and planning approvals must be obtained.
