Summary

Grants to help with the cost of retrofitting a passenger vehicle to meet accessibility standards, or purchasing a new vehicle that can accommodate passengers using mobility devices such as wheelchairs and scooters. The Disability Policy Office runs the program to increase accessible transportation across the province, particularly in rural areas and for cross-provincial travel. Selection considers local demand and available funding. Successful applicants must commit to providing service for a minimum of two years, submit an annual service-data report after the first year, and accept ongoing provincial audits. Costs above the approved funding are the applicant’s responsibility. The 2025-26 intake is closed.

Eligibility

Individuals, businesses, Newfoundland and Labrador based non-profit organizations, Indigenous governments and organizations, municipalities, and local service districts. Eligibility was broadened beyond taxi operators to encourage wider participation.
